Ready to party?!

Have you ever been to a really nice reception after a wedding? You know the kind with a sit down dinner- the marriage supper. No expense has been spared. All the stops have been pulled out for the biggest celebration they can afford. Everything is decorated. The food is really good. It’s time to celebrate!

The bride is gorgeous, not only because she’s all dressed up, but also because she’s enjoying the love of her husband. All her family and friends are there to celebrate with her.

The groom is also glowing with love for his bride and excitement for their future life together. He is also excited, nearly jumping for joy, because he won his wife’s heart and finally married her. All his family and friends are there to celebrate with him.

It is one of the biggest days of their lives, and rightfully so.

But, let me tell you, there is an even bigger marriage supper than the biggest one you can imagine.

“Then He said to him, ‘A certain man gave a great supper and invited many, and sent his servant at supper time to say to those who were invited, “Come, for all things are now ready.” But they all with one accord began to make excuses. The first said to him, “I have bought a piece of ground, and I must go and see it. I ask you to have me excused.” And another said, “I have bought five yoke of oxen, and I am going to test them. I ask you to have me excused.” Still another said, “I have married a wife, and therefore I cannot come.” So that servant came and reported these things to his master. Then the master of the house, being angry, said to his servant, “Go out quickly into the streets and lanes of the city, and bring in here the poor and the maimed and the lame and the blind.” And the servant said, “Master, it is done as you commanded, and still there is room.” Then the master said to the servant, “Go out into the highways and hedges, and compel them to come in, that my house may be filled. For I say to you that none of those men who were invited shall taste my supper.”’” (Luke 14: 16- 24)

“Then he said to me, ‘Write: “Blessed are those who are called to the marriage supper of the Lamb!”’ And he said to me, ‘These are the true sayings of God.’” (Revelation 19:9) [emphasis added]

The marriage supper of the Lamb is not going to be a party you want to miss! There are so many people invited. In fact, the invitation is extended to you. You are invited to the marriage supper of the Lamb. Your relationship with the Lamb is what gets you into the banquet. (See the previous post for Who the Lamb is.)
I know I am definitely planning to be in on this party. I would highly recommend that you get in on it too! This is not something you want to miss out on.

Did you notice though that those who were invited first didn’t value the fact that they were invited? They just went on with life as usual- or even with special things, neglecting the invitation to the great banquet. Then, did you see it, the master of the house- the one inviting everyone- got angry because they didn’t come. Instead of them, he invited anyone who could be found. There was so much room in the banquet hall that everyone could have come. So the poor, the maimed, the lame, and the blind, which could be found on the streets and lanes of the city, were invited. Then, because even after that, there was MORE ROOM, those on the highways and in the hedges were compelled to come- so that the house would be full! The desire of the master of the house was for a packed out banquet. He didn’t want anything he had prepared to go to waste because of a lack of guests at the banquet. There was enough room for everyone!

Now, God has been preparing a banquet- the marriage supper of the Lamb- and He wants His house to be full. So everyone is invited! =)
You’re ticket to get through the door at the house is your relationship with the Lamb, that’s the proof that you have been invited. If you don’t have a relationship with the Lamb, you can start one right now. (See the previous post “The Bride” for how to do that.)
